Chapter 2: The Fires Forever
Now they had reached the other side of the balcony to their left was the hotel. and to their right was a downward stiarcase. She had stopped reading for a moment and looked up. He looked into her perfect blue eyes and smiled as he leaned close to her and gave her a kiss, he then looked ahead over the balcony wall, which over-looked an entire hedge garden. In the center of the garden was a large circular fir pit, enclosed by a raised flagstone bench then surround by couches and chairs.
He remembered all the times they had sat there and talked, sometimes with friends, sometimes just as a couple. During the winter, they would frequent that spot, sitting by the warm fire. They would talk about everything, from relationships to religion, from music to marriage. It was an area where they could relax and just let time slip away.
After a moment he looked towards her and nodded his head, "Okay you can continue reading," he said as he lead the way down the stairs.
As she read, he tried to remain silent and just focused on leading her on their path while all their memories filled his mind. As they exited the staircase they moved onto a packed gravel path which sat between a hedge and a building, and entered into a small town of shops. The stores were given the design and structure of a small quaint European village. To the right sat the small stores connected to each other with a string of small light bulbs hung high in the air.
To their left sat a circular fountain, which about five months ago was completely covered by a thirty foot Christmas tree, and a Gazebo which around that same time had been the housing for a large red chair, Santa's chair to be exact. He remembered goofing around on that chair, admiring the giant brightly lit tree, and walking the court yard for the first time with her. It had been the first time they had actually hung out with each other alone, and the first time he had actually realized what kind of person she was. As they continued to walk they saw the restaurant to their right named "The Three Amigos." It was the place that reminded her of her dad and the same place they attempted to dance at on New Year's after the fireworks show.
He remembered on New Year's as the clock hit twelve and the fireworks exploded into the air, what he had said to his friends and to her.
"Where do you think we'll all be in a year? Like if we met up one year from now right here, what would be different?" he had said.
At that time two relationships had begun and one was about to start. Thinking back on it he realized how much had already changed in such a short amount of time, how things had progressed, and how time had just seemed to speed by........
Chapter 3: Endless Time
Once more she took her eyes away from the page and once more he leaned in for a kiss. He wanted to know what she thought of what she was reading, but at the same time he knew it was just better to wait. For a moment they just relazed, enjoying the scenery, the weather, and each other. As he held her, he knew that was the perfect girl for him; she loved him unconditionally, and believed in all of his abilities even when he was unsure of himself. He loved her, he loved everything about her, the way she bit her lip after they kissed, the way she always knew what was on his mind, the way she acted and blended with his family. He loved the way she was with his and her nieces. He loved her sweet caring personality and loved how she also had an attigude, how she would never let anyone walk on her, or put her down. That no matter how badly she was harmed she still had good things to say about those people. He loved how much she loved people and that she wanted to save the world, and he loved how she loved him.
"You ready?" he replied looking down into eyes once more.
"Yep!" She said with a smile.
"Okay let's go," he said as she went back to reading the next page.
They walked across the grass toward their "spot", which was a bench that overlooked the lake. This was the place where he had first realized that he was starting to have deeper feelings for her, feelings more than friendship. Where they had, had some of their most serious intimate deep coversations, this was their spot.
As the hill moved past their vision and ther bench was revealed, she was a table with two candles, plates, and glasses. The bench was the seating for their table, for their dinner. Upon each plate sat a shiny foil wrapped item. Labeled across the foil was the word "Sonic". The dinner was a grilled cheese sandwich from a nearby fast food restaurant, but more importantly it was the same meal they had eaten the first night they had actually hung out alone, and the first night that he had realized the feeling he was starting to have for her. He then pointed toward the wooden bench. On the backing of the bench, located on the upper center, was a small silver plaque which read: A & D's Bench.
He then waited nervously as she reached her hand out for a pen.....
(At this point I was given a riddle...with the numbers 43222...i was then told to go to the first of the first chapter and circle the first 4 letter of the first word, 3 letters in the second and so on and so forth...haha i messed it up though...so derrick had to make sure i was doing it correctly...)
WILLiam YOUng + MARina RYe MEyers
I turned around and Derrick was on his knee with a black box in his hand and said will you marry me? and he opened the box...he goes you said duck tape was ok right? ( I had told him i didn't care what kind of ring i got i would be happy with a duck tape ring...he told me it would be a twisty tie...) and sure enough inside was a duck tape ring...then he goes...or if you would like you can have this one...and had one on a necklace around his neck...i almost tackled him and i was crying and smiling and listening to this horrible band that was playing (we didn't know that a jazz band was going to be playing that night for us...haha he had a CD player with all our songs on it, but we couldn't even hear it...) I was right guessing a band was involved...he also wrote me a song and was having a local band make it for him, however they didn't get it completely recorded in time so he wasn't able to use that as part of it. But i don't care, it was perfect!!!!
