in lieu of turtle neck tuesdays...TASTY TUESDAY

So I have been trying to get a fun new dessert and I was craving these so I decided I would try making cream puffs/eclairs they actually turned out really good and they were so much easier than I thought they would be!

what you'll need to start out:
1 cup water
1/2 cup butter (one stick)
1 cup flour
2 tablespoon corn starch
1/4 teaspoon salt
4 eggs

and whatever you want to put inside of them...I just used vanilla pudding minus 1/2 cup of milk...next time I think I'll use banana cream pie filling though

preheat your oven to 375
so you boil the water and butter together in a medium sauce pan
while it is heating up mix the flour, corn starch, and salt together in a seperate bowl
once the water/butter is boiling add all of the flour mixture at once into the boiling pot using a spoon mix it all together (stiring constantly) until it makes a big clump of dough (it took about a min for mine to make the clump)
take the dough and put it in a mixer (i used my kitchen aid)and add one egg at a time until all 4 eggs are in
put in a frosting bag (or plastic bag in my case with the corner cut off) and make either eclairs and make them long or just do little balls for cream puffs
(the dough is really sticky!!)
put them in the oven for 25-30 mins until they are golden brown
*I was reading up on making them and they said don't open the oven before 15 mins because it will cause the puffs to fall and then you can't put the cream in them

after it was cooled i put vanilla pudding inside of them and then just frosted them with chocolate frosting

THE Story...well the rest of it...

Chapter 2: The Fires Forever

Now they had reached the other side of the balcony to their left was the hotel. and to their right was a downward stiarcase. She had stopped reading for a moment and looked up. He looked into her perfect blue eyes and smiled as he leaned close to her and gave her a kiss, he then looked ahead over the balcony wall, which over-looked an entire hedge garden. In the center of the garden was a large circular fir pit, enclosed by a raised flagstone bench then surround by couches and chairs.
He remembered all the times they had sat there and talked, sometimes with friends, sometimes just as a couple. During the winter, they would frequent that spot, sitting by the warm fire. They would talk about everything, from relationships to religion, from music to marriage. It was an area where they could relax and just let time slip away.
After a moment he looked towards her and nodded his head, "Okay you can continue reading," he said as he lead the way down the stairs.
As she read, he tried to remain silent and just focused on leading her on their path while all their memories filled his mind. As they exited the staircase they moved onto a packed gravel path which sat between a hedge and a building, and entered into a small town of shops. The stores were given the design and structure of a small quaint European village. To the right sat the small stores connected to each other with a string of small light bulbs hung high in the air.

To their left sat a circular fountain, which about five months ago was completely covered by a thirty foot Christmas tree, and a Gazebo which around that same time had been the housing for a large red chair, Santa's chair to be exact. He remembered goofing around on that chair, admiring the giant brightly lit tree, and walking the court yard for the first time with her. It had been the first time they had actually hung out with each other alone, and the first time he had actually realized what kind of person she was. As they continued to walk they saw the restaurant to their right named "The Three Amigos." It was the place that reminded her of her dad and the same place they attempted to dance at on New Year's after the fireworks show.
He remembered on New Year's as the clock hit twelve and the fireworks exploded into the air, what he had said to his friends and to her.
"Where do you think we'll all be in a year? Like if we met up one year from now right here, what would be different?" he had said.
At that time two relationships had begun and one was about to start. Thinking back on it he realized how much had already changed in such a short amount of time, how things had progressed, and how time had just seemed to speed by........

Chapter 3: Endless Time

Once more she took her eyes away from the page and once more he leaned in for a kiss. He wanted to know what she thought of what she was reading, but at the same time he knew it was just better to wait. For a moment they just relazed, enjoying the scenery, the weather, and each other. As he held her, he knew that was the perfect girl for him; she loved him unconditionally, and believed in all of his abilities even when he was unsure of himself. He loved her, he loved everything about her, the way she bit her lip after they kissed, the way she always knew what was on his mind, the way she acted and blended with his family. He loved the way she was with his and her nieces. He loved her sweet caring personality and loved how she also had an attigude, how she would never let anyone walk on her, or put her down. That no matter how badly she was harmed she still had good things to say about those people. He loved how much she loved people and that she wanted to save the world, and he loved how she loved him.
"You ready?" he replied looking down into eyes once more.
"Yep!" She said with a smile.
"Okay let's go," he said as she went back to reading the next page.
They walked across the grass toward their "spot", which was a bench that overlooked the lake. This was the place where he had first realized that he was starting to have deeper feelings for her, feelings more than friendship. Where they had, had some of their most serious intimate deep coversations, this was their spot.
As the hill moved past their vision and ther bench was revealed, she was a table with two candles, plates, and glasses. The bench was the seating for their table, for their dinner. Upon each plate sat a shiny foil wrapped item. Labeled across the foil was the word "Sonic". The dinner was a grilled cheese sandwich from a nearby fast food restaurant, but more importantly it was the same meal they had eaten the first night they had actually hung out alone, and the first night that he had realized the feeling he was starting to have for her. He then pointed toward the wooden bench. On the backing of the bench, located on the upper center, was a small silver plaque which read: A & D's Bench.
He then waited nervously as she reached her hand out for a pen.....

(At this point I was given a riddle...with the numbers 43222...i was then told to go to the first of the first chapter and circle the first 4 letter of the first word, 3 letters in the second and so on and so forth...haha i messed it up though...so derrick had to make sure i was doing it correctly...)

WILLiam YOUng + MARina RYe MEyers

I turned around and Derrick was on his knee with a black box in his hand and said will you marry me? and he opened the box...he goes you said duck tape was ok right? ( I had told him i didn't care what kind of ring i got i would be happy with a duck tape ring...he told me it would be a twisty tie...) and sure enough inside was a duck tape ring...then he goes...or if you would like you can have this one...and had one on a necklace around his neck...i almost tackled him and i was crying and smiling and listening to this horrible band that was playing (we didn't know that a jazz band was going to be playing that night for us...haha he had a CD player with all our songs on it, but we couldn't even hear it...) I was right guessing a band was involved...he also wrote me a song and was having a local band make it for him, however they didn't get it completely recorded in time so he wasn't able to use that as part of it. But i don't care, it was perfect!!!!

THE Story

So last night for my 21st birthday I was told that I was going to dinner at my favorite place in Vegas called Lakes, I was getting into the car and saw a birthday present from Derrick, I picked it up but he told me i couldn't have it yet, we were running late for our reservations so i figured after dinner he'd have me open it, we make the long drive and as we are getting out of the car and he locks the doors and confirms it with a second beep he tells me to open it. I open it and he goes ok, so you can read...but as soon as it gets to the ...... you have to stop and wait for me to tell you when to continue. the front of the book has a picture Ruby drew for us...and i began to read.......

THE Story

William Young + Marina Rye Meyers

Chapter 1: The Entrance

The shutting of the car's door and the twice beeping horn echoed throughout the large familiar garage. As they walked toward the double glass doors he handed her a small black foulder. Instantly she clasped the folder and flipped it open revealing several papers, with small black print.
'Read it, but stop each time you see the repeated periods,' he said with a small smile. 'I'll tell you when to continue from those sections.'
She was unsure what to think or how to react to this unusual situation, 'Is he crazy? What is he up to?' were a few of the many questions that sped through her mind.
As she looked down at the paper and began to read he reached down and pulled the large silver handle of one of the two glass doors. The door didn't budge; he was confused for a moment but realized, as he had done several times before, and as the small sign read on the door to "push."
At the sign of his once more repeated mistake she gave a small grin and roller her eyes, but continued to read. As he guided the way through the long white walled hallway, his mind ran rampant. He thought of all of his feeling for this girl. All the times they had spent together all the long conversations they shared. They were always perfectly in sync with each other. They had many of the same idiosyncrasies, like always grabbing the second or third cup from off the stack at seven eleven, or when the same random idea would pop into their heads at the exact same moment.

They had now passed through the second set of glass doors and were crossing a long outdoor balcony that sat outside of the familiar hotel that they just referred to as "Lakes." The outside was warm and small lights that were attached to the buildings off the balcony gleamed in the dark night.
As he continued to lead the way he took a deep breath as his mind raced on. His life had always been filled with chaos, it was always wild, and he always tired to help out and tried to make thisgs better for his family and friends. The problem with this was that he was used to bottling up his own problems, plus trying to take on everyone else's as well. This had the potential to eat him up alive, but he had never found anyone that he felt secure enough to confide in, that is, until he met her.
No matter what chaos was happening, or how long a string of bad luck seemed to last. He could handle it, just knowing that he was with her, knowing that she was there for him. She made his life so much better that, no matter what problem lay in his path he knew he'd overcome it..........

So that is chapter one...there are three chapters in the book, this book was for me, so I am sure it isnt as special to anyone else but me... It was crazy how perfect the timing worked out, because we happened to walk through the glass doors as i was reading about the glass doors, I don't know if anyone wants to read the rest of the book, or if they just want to see the picts...so I will post the picts and then you let me know if you want the rest of the story....

Granny Granny

"Let wind be free where'er you be, for holding a fart will surely kill thee"

i don't know many people who have great grandmas who say things like this...I did...Our jazz fanatic, american idol enthusiasts, people magazine reading, dog loving, crystal owning great grandma went to go visit her cherrished Missy this past week. We will all miss the racial comments and snide but truthful remarks from this bright woman.
A few things that stick out in my mind most when i think of Granny Granny...
You aren't as fat as i remember
I know you love old perfume bottles so here are some more ( i think i have a collection of 30 or more smelly perfume bottles...i don't remember ever loving perfume bottles...she seemed to think that i collected them...I do now...)
Missy (her slightly retarded weiner dog)
Kwin, you will take care of Missy when I'm gone
(when I was traveling to Africa) you better not fall in love with any of those blacks...
(while eating salsa) I smell like a mexican
(when she found out that i was marrying a half mexican) Marcy, I am so sorry to hear that, she won't be able to get married in the temple.
(at christmas time) all her crystal decorations
her stacking stool
her newest gossip on all the celebrities
little red chirstmas stockings
crisp 2 dollar bills
high rise toliet seats
Amanda, i have a red coat for you, it is much too large for me
Zach you are looking sickly (or was it too skinny?)
(when Amanda was born) I didn't know Ricks dad was an indian

there are many memories from this funny lady, we will all greatly miss you granny granny! we love you!
